Intrinsic Recordings has spread its wings recently with owners Jeryl and Danny Intrikut signing artists onto ‘three single’ deals in order to work closer with them and help build their profiles more. As always the focus is on new and underexposed producers, the first generation of Intrinsic signings Kubiks, BCee & Lomax, Chino & Submorphics, Redeyes and Mutt having already proven that Intrinsic has a good eye for talent.

Keen to keep up the level of quality the label has become associated with, Intrinsic is proud to present their quickest selling release ever, and it’s from a brand new artist! Soulmatic’s ‘Come Closer’ literally flew off the shelves on promo and is set to be a fantastic debut for the young Danish artist, not that he’s stopping there, with releases dropping on Liquid V, Innerground, Good Looking and Viper it’s going to be a great year for Soulmatic whose next Intrinsic 12″ is already in production.

Next up is another European import: Contour. This Finnish gentleman wowed us with his unique blend of twinkling melodies, sharp beats and grizzly basslines and his Intrinsic debut ‘Backwards Motion’ is already getting love on plate from none other than Hospital’s Danny Byrd, Internet forum whore Blu Mar Ten and Derbyshire’s local hero Drumsound. Look out for plenty more from Finland’s finest soon.

Following these two ridiculously heavy releases comes the outstanding Brighton based DJ Metrik with a 12” so fresh we were literally the first people to hear it! Coming like the bastard son of Subfocus and Artificial Intelligence, Metrik hits hard with punchy beats overlaid with tonnes of musicality. ‘Your World’ and ‘Into The Future’ will be the eighth exciting release on Intrinsic Recordings!

As well as these stimulating signings and some hugely talented artists waiting in the wings, Intrinsic continues with its series of label nights. Running in their hometown of Swindon with help from local promoters Inm8 Productions, their ‘Liquid:Kandi’ events have built a reputation for fun, friendly, fast soul music delivered with an attention to detail that’s rarely seen at D&B nights (think free sweets, alcoholic supersoakers given out by girls in hotpants and storming live visuals).
